Cupcakes & More!

A new cupcake shop opened on Wednesday and of course I had to swing by and check it out. It's called Cupcakes & More and is the cutest little shop, with pink everything! They had a whole display case full of cupcakes in three different sizes, with flavors and colors galore. I opted for 5 of the jumbo cupcakes - 2 peanut butter, 1 cookies & cream, 1 snowflake (coconut) and 1 winter mint. I left a peanut butter cupcake with an amazing client of mine while I dropped her wedding DVDs off, and took the other four home. So far, only the coconut one has been tasted, but it's was amazing! I heard they will be doing wedding cakes as well, so we look forward to getting to know them in the future! Check out some images of the cupcakes below!

Baby Macy's Birthday Video

We were in for a real treat with Macy! Her parents are good friends, and we were given advance notice that this cutie loves food.. actually gets a little crazy everytime she eats! So when mom brought out the cake, we were sure to catch her initial reaction. As she eats it, I think she defines "an toddler on a sugar high". It's definitely great for a smile.. so enjoy!

Las Vegas Bridal Show!

This past weekend we traveled to the gettin' hitched capital of the world to get a taste of their wedding industry. We took a walk through the Bridal Spectacular Bridal Show and were amazed! It was as if the vendors were competing for the best bridal show booth - some of their designs and set ups were so creative and eye catching, we cant help but wonder how long it took them to get set up. We were able to meet vendors and really get to talk with a couple of them regarding their services and the Las Vegas industry as a whole. Besides the white chapels and drive thru marriages, Vegas has some gorgeous venues to get married, bumping it up on my "Destination Hot Spot" list. I was surprised to find many affordable options, pricing it to be about the same as a local wedding. So if you're looking for a fun, romantic place to tie the knot I would highly recommend checking it out. I brought home a few photos to share with you..

This was the entrance of the show - the dress gallery to the right was a fun idea, and there were tons of inspiration tables!

I loved this cute idea at one inspiration table. The table napkins were wrapped in a mardi gras bead necklace to hold them together! It just looks sleek and simple, yet classy. LOVE!

This is NEW for 2011, and I'm oh-so-excited. I used to cringe when I heard the term "royalty free music" (and I'm sure most of you do too), esepcially since I'm in a highly scrutinized industry where record labels are readily hunting for companies using unlicensed music. While I'm an avid music fan/artist supporter, until mainstream music went licensed for a reasonable price, I decided to take my chances using fun, upbeat tunes for our videos. Now, after a phone call that stemmed from a Twitter meeting (go social media!) we've officially become a member of SongFreedom - an awesome website that houses thousands of licensed songs that I've actually heard of for use in all of our videos. Who Am I?

I’ve been meaning to write this one for a little while, so today I finally bit the bullet and decided to go for it. Most of you only get to know me through the style of my work, so I wanted to give you a peak into the person behind that lens. Straight ripped off from US Weekly Celebrity section, here are 25 things you don’t know about me:
1) I have one sibling – a sister, Hanah, who is 20 years old.
2) I love everything glitter.
3) The weirdest job I ever had was a Strawberry Picker.
4) I graduated from UNL with a Bachelors in Advertising, which has nothing to do with filming or editing.
5) I love surprises. LOVE them. Big or small.. if it’s something I’m not expecting.. it’s probably going to make me smile!
6) I was 22 years old for one month when I purchased this company.
7) Shoes are my guilty pleasure, and at last count had close to 100.
8) In my next “career life”, I want to be a cosmetologist or a travel agent.
9) Traveling is my favorite thing to do!
10) I was voted “Best Dressed in Lincoln” in 2009 (Thanks to everyone who voted!)
11) Voicemails are NOT my thing. I would much prefer to text or email.
12) I could live on Mexican food and margaritas.
13) Country music speaks to me in a way that is indescribable.
14) There are only 3% of people in this world whose views, thought process, and gut feelings are similar to mine.
15) I’ve never broken a bone.
16) I hate smoking. It’s a major deal breaker.
17) I don’t really like to shop.
18) It’s safe to say, I’m addicted to scratch tickets.
19) I’m very athletic, and played all 4 sports in High School.
20) I love to read, and wish I had more time for it.
21) I rarely get sick.
22) Cooking isn’t really my thing – I prefer something fast and easy to make.
23) Don’t bother me during a Husker Football Game – I’m a diehard fan.
24) I took 8.5 years of Spanish classes in HS and College and now have a minor in it through UNL.
25) I’ve seriously become a wedding geek. Magazines, colors, ideas, dresses, you name it. It's a bit ridiclous.

New Year, New Blog!

I can honestly say that 2010 has been one of the fastest years I can remember. It’s easy for me to see how much time flies when my every day consists of helping brides and grooms plans their special days months and months in advance. What seemed so far in the distance suddenly sneaks up on us time and time again.. and before you know it, another year is over. So this year, we’re going to treat you all to a special “2010 Wrap Up” with some highlights of the past year.

1) We remodeled our office! Yes, that’s right – our conference room got a (much needed) facelift, courtesy of my good friend Sarah Murphy, owner of RED Staging and Design in Denver. She pulled an all nighter and I was blown away with the things she came up with and finished in 36 hours. It looks amazing and we’ve already gotten numerous compliments on it. THANK YOU Sarah!! A sneak peek of photos below.. just missing the blinds!

2) My assistant (and an amazing friend!), that had been alongside me for almost 2 years, graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May and took a full time job in Admissions. It was hard to see her go, but wish her the best of luck in her future and are excited to work with her for her wedding in 2011!

3) 2010 made it official: ASI stepped up to the plate and made the switch to DSLR cameras. We previously were using Sony HD Camcorders and as the industry slowly makes the shift to shooting video with still photo cameras, we jumped in with two feet. And I must say, it was a great decision we should have done sooner!

4) Pending some final numbers, it’s a clear landslide that 2010 has been our biggest and best year to date! With almost 140 events on the books, we were blessed to get to know all our awesome clients and their families. I love that every day we work with people on the happiest day of their lives! 5) And saved the best for last – We were ecstatic at the opportunity to film the wedding of two of my close friends in Kauai, Hawaii in May. The whole day was a mix of emotional, romantic, exciting, and fun. I couldn’t ask for two better people to have in my life, and am thankful I got to stand next to them and witness their bond to each other. Congratulations you two! Cozumel Christmas

We had a destination Christmas this year, complete with sand, sun, and palm trees. If you haven't experienced Cozumel, Mexico, it's a definite travel MUST! We stayed at the Occidental Allegro (all inclusive is the way to go) and we rented a car for one day to see the town, shop, and hit the bars along the ocean side coast. Here's a short video we compiled of everyone's photos that gives a great overview of the trip!

This was a very special wedding for us.. Ashley owns Body Nouveaux and Spa in Lincoln (facials, massages, and body wraps!) and we've recently become friends through the wedding industry so I was VERY excited when she approached me about filming her wedding. I wanted to do something special for her, so after talking to her fiance prior to the wedding, I took their slideshow home the night before, finished it up for her and added the Same Day Edit footage at the end of it as a surprise! Due to some technical difficulties, we couldnt get the slideshow to play, but it was already on a DVD for her to pop in the next morning at brunch for her and her family to watch. Brooke was a bridesmaid in a previous wedding we filmed a few years ago, and we were so excited when she called to tell us the news that she was engaged! This wedding was truly a fairy tale.. the attention to detail was nothing like I'd ever seen before and it made for a very memorable night.. at the zoo! We met her at the church before the ceremony, accompanied them in the limo and for photos, then on to the reception at the zoo for a celebration. We fell in love with this couple. And once I post a piece of their Love Story video, I think you will too. :) We had an amazing time with them all day Saturday - we showed up early to find Julianne and Lonnie about ready to get dressed for their first meeting. It truly was a heartfelt moment, beautifully placed next to an old brick wall, thanks to the fab Chris with La Brisa Photography. Chris and I had chatted a bit prior to meeting on Saturday and decided to try and surprise the bride and groom with a Same Day Edit at the reception, which they totally weren't expecting. We traveled to Madison, Wisconsin last weekend to film the wedding of a high school friend Andy and his gorgeous bride Julie. What a blast it was! I love shooting in new places and this one was definitely great scenery. Our day began bright and early at the salon for hair and makeup, then back to the hotel to put on the dress. They were married at Burrows Park in a lakeside ceremony where the weather held up to be PERFECT, after an 80% chance of rain scare! We then went for photos at the state capital and on to the reception at the Zor Shrine building. Tear jerker. Those are the first words that come to mind when I think of the emotions that flew during this entire day! Audrey first came to us over a year before the wedding, wanting to put together a slideshow video for Wes for Father's day featuring their beautiful daughter Avery singing to him. She mentioned she was also planning her wedding and so we started chatting.. Audrey's wedding was one we have been looking forward to for SO long as we saw all her details come together every time we would chat. June 12, 2010 was the day and everything was perfect.. She was a gorgeous bride and the love between her and Wes glowed from them both the entire day. We met up with her at Illusions Salon where she works as a stylist, and then followed her to the church. At their first meeting, tears were flowing and the emotions continued all day. This is a must see video.. I can almost guarantee tears towards the end, but I'm not going to ruin the surprise! :)

The amazingly talented Elli from Studio E approached me early this year with an idea to do a marketing video to help promo her senior photo shoots.. after chatting a bit, I was completely stoked! We rounded up some senior models and did a photo shoot one Sunday down in the HayMarket in Lincoln. The footage was awesome and I think the video turned out pretty cool! What an amazing day this was! Shawn and Rebecca have been two of my good friends for the past few years and I knew this day was going to be a blast. I brought along my good friend Matt with Elwood Photography to give him a chance to try his hand at video.. I must say, I was pretty impressed! We started at Salon Jane where the girls had their hair done (by Rebecca's fab personal attendant, Suzanne) and then I followed out to Staplehurst, NE for the first meeting and ceremony. The limo bus ride took us out to a one lane bridge by Seward which made for a great photo opp. Once we arrived at the Ag Pavilion, our DJ Kurtis helped give our couple an entrance to Chris Brown's "Forever" that no one there will forget! What an amazing day this was! I first met Cari through Erin with Erin Stoll Photography when we were both shooting a wedding years ago, and when Cari called me to say she was engaged, I was ecstatic! Words can't even begin to describe Bailey and Evan's wedding day. After a beautifully emotional ceremony outside at the barns at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, we moved inside the barns for a reception staged right out of Martha Stewart magazine. Petal Creations provided a gorgeous backdrop for the ceremony and all the reception decor - everything looked amazing! Bailey and Evan kicked things the night off right with a unique twist on one of their dances.. Jeff & Corey - Kauai, HI

WOW! That's the only way to describe the wedding from last weekend. We are down in Hawaii right now, on the island of Kauai, and it is absolutely beautiful. Jeff and Corey chose the sand right outside the Waipouli Beach Resort to exchange vows in front of a few close friends and family. We were honored and very excited to be a part of their special day! Corner Star Dance

While we still specialize in weddings only, we were asked to flim the dance recital for the Corner Star Dance Studio in Milford, NE last weekend. Our good photographer friend Elli from Studio E Photography sent us the referral, and we decided to help them out. Our Fantasy Wedding Show was held last Sunday, April 25 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts in downtown Lincoln. It was quite the event, with almost 40 awesome vendors, a super unique runway show courtesy of David's Bridal and Best Styles Formalwear, and tons of prize giveaways! I'm such a sucker for wedding magazines.. I'm always buying them in the grocery line and then filling out the little subscription cards. I swear I read so many I don't know how I keep up some months! I found some really cool information in the latest edition of BRIDES Magazine that I simply must share!

Apparently, 5% of brides purchase more than one gown, and out of that, 2% buy more than two! I'm guessing is this is for the brides with the bigger budget.. I know I'm going to get all the wear out of my ONE dress that I can!

Are you a bride who needs to get organized? Google now has a wedding specific website to help brides keep everything order. They have more than 20 templates for addresses, budgets, photos, music lists, and more!

The Trend of Friday Weddings

These two came to us a few weeks before the wedding as a last minute decision - and we are SO glad they did! We had an absolute blast! I met them at the church while they were both still getting ready, with just enough time to get some shots of Rae seeing her son for the first time that day. When she was ready, we took her downstairs where Patrick was waiting to see her for the first time in her dress. His reaction said "stunning!" and we let them have a few moments together. The ceremony went without a hitch, and soon they were headed towards their Hummer with bubbles swirling around. We stopped at the Capital to take some photos on the steps outside, then headed down to Holiday Inn downtown for their reception. She had the cutest idea to attach charms with ribbons to her cake and have all her bridesmaids pull the ribbons at the same time to receive the charms.. I love seeing new things! Jeff with Primetime Music kept the tunes flowing all night and we got to work with Dave from Richmond Photography - can't wait to see his images! Two words to describe the unique wedding of this amazing couple: green pumas. That's what all the groomsmen wore with their tuxes - what a cute idea! This irish couple loves St. Patrick's Day and chose to have their reception on the weekend of the big parade that happens every year in Omaha to so they can incorporate that into their anniversary. Their wedding and reception were both at the Grand Manse in downtown Lincoln - always a beautiful venue! As always, our DJ had a blast at their reception, jamming out to Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly and Passion Pit - can you think of better music for an irish reception? What a beautiful wedding! We were blessed to work with Liz & Pepper on their wedding, helping them plan a huge party for all their guests. I knew it was going to be an amazing night when I asked their first dance song, and they responded with "Stellar" by Incubus.. Ah! YWCA Shakin' Things Up

What a blast! Last Friday, the YWCA sponsored a fundraising event called Shakin' Things Up held at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. What a fun event! Five different bars participated in a martini contest, competing against each other. Each attendee gets one martini from each bar and then casts a vote at the end of the night for their favorite. This was the third annual YWCA Martini Event and was the most successful yet! Over 250 people went through the doors - almost 150 more than the previous year! We donated our music services to the event, and our DJ Kurtis was there playing some rocking music and keeping the party going. Special thanks to the bars that participated: Zens, Starlite, Docs, venue, and red9 - also, special thanks to Toberlin Photography for the use of these images below! We always love working with him and were excited to hear he was donating his services as well!

It was SUCH a blast filming Jarod and Lindsey’s wedding, we couldn’t wait to share their fabulous day! We got to spend some time with Lindsey while we captured every detail of her getting ready. She was an absolutely stunning bride! They shared their vows at Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Since Jarod is a big hunter, Lindsey surprised him with duck calls as they exited the church as Mr. and Mrs. After a stop at Grata, the bride and groom danced the night away at the Lincoln Station in the Haymarket. Congrats, Jarod and Lindsey on a beautiful marriage! It was a pleasure being apart of your special day!

Dan & Lisa - Monterey, CA

Oh my gosh.. what an amazing couple days this was! We were so blessed to have the opportunity to work with Dan & Lisa for their California wedding and also the talented Matt Elwood from Elwood Photography! We hit the airport and traveled to Monterey, CA over the weekend of January 30, 2010 to help capture all the memories of Dan & Lisa's special day. The wedding was at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, which was a little inland from the beach. The weather was perfectly gorgeous and the wedding went (almost:) without a hitch! Post wedding, we traveled to Lover's Point and took many photos on the cliff, rocks, and beach. The footage is stunning and I know Matt's photos are as well - be on the lookout for a few teasers of those! A big THANK YOU to Dan, Lisa, and both their families for being so welcoming and treating us like family - It was an amazing experience! What a wedding! These two are so in love, they couldn't keep their hands off each other! We were blessed to be part of their special day and were very excited to work with Matt from Elwood Photography again. Mike and Karen first saw each other at the Captial building downtown.. she was stunning! I met up with them a little later at the Berean Church here in Lincoln and our footage at the church rocked. Next we followed them to the Falls reception hall (which was our first time filming there) to a unique reception with cheesecake instead of wedding cake (yum!). What a rockin' Nea Years Eve! We were blessed to spend it with Stephanie and Josh in the small towns of Hebron and Deshler, NE. I got there a little early in hopes to get some great shots of the couple in the snow, and as always the fabulous Matt Elwood was two steps ahead, already in the car headed out to shoot! I included one his photos below too, from the road in the snow :) The ceremony was beautiful (her small veil covering her face was to die for!) and then they made an exciting exit outside the church to fireworks! The wedding party held sparklers while huge fireworks exploded in the background - it was amazing! We moved on to Deshler and one of our DJs had the reception hall rockin' all night, complete with the New Years countdown at midnight! My first wedding after a snowfall this year! I love winter weddings.. they are few and far between and each one is so unique! I met Sara a year and a half ago as bridesmaids in my cousin's wedding and we've stayed in touch ever since. As soon as her and Mark got engaged, she called right away to check availability.. after moving some things around and trying differnet options, we were finally able to make the same date work. I was SO excited to work with her and couldn't wait to spend the day with them. They were married in McCook, NE with a reception following at the Community Building. It was our first trip to McCook and the drive was worth it - the day was just as beautiful as I could have imagined! I was sitting at a coffee shop this morning working and happened to notice the guy next to me editing wedding photos - LOVE when that happens! We started chatting - turns out he is Skip Hopkins of Skip Hopkins Photography based in Nashville, TN. After browsing his website, I decided I had to share him with all of you. He photographed the wedding of Cassie & Charles (from Lady Antebellum) in the Bahamas and had those photos featured in People magazine for it - Congratulations! Wow, can we say magic moment? This was SOOO much fun to film! Jeff and Corey have been friends of mine for a while and when Jeff approached me about filming the proposal, I was more than ecstatic! Sarah Pfeiffer and I went to scope out the location and put some plans in place with Jeff. We waited outside at James Arthur Vineyards until we saw them walk out and captured it all from the bushes.. what an emotional moment! Midwest Bridal Association

For those couples that are not familiar, the Midwest Bridal Association is an organization that was established as a way to classify the best of the best Wedding Vendors in the Midwest. To be accepted, a vendor must first submit an application with references that goes in front of a panel, which then decides whether the vendor's reputation and history are up to Association's standards. Judging criteria includes amount of time in business, reputation with brides and other vendors, and customer service. Couples can spot these vendors on the Midwest Bridal Associations website or by seeing the MBA logo on advertisements by the vendors or prominentely displayed on their website or in their offices. Hottest new wedding colors? Orange and Blue of course! And our photographer friend Leah Lund ROCKED them at her wedding on October 3 and were there to catch every moment! She was blessed with a beautiful day as she tied the knot after seven years together with her boyfriend Simeon.. what a magical day! They threw a huge party at the Grand Manse in the Jasmine Room that was gorgeously decorated by my friend (and the uber-talented) Stacy with Petal Creations. It was a fabulous day and we know she enjoyed every moment of it!

What a blast these two were! Chris and Tara are big Husker fans.. and instead of getting married on a Game Day, they chose a gorgeous Friday in mid September and couldn't have gotten more perfect weather. Huskers were woven in throughout their day.. Tara had fun red heels on under her dress and Chris and his groomsmen wore Husker plaid socks under their tuxes.. how cute! They were married at First Plymouth church with their reception following at Nebraska Champions Club next to the stadium. What a wedding day this was! We had an absolute blast with Sally & Vernon, plus many of our favorite vendors! They had a very unique and fun ceremony, with Vernon's brother performing a rap in the middle and the flower girls racing down the aisle. We took a limo to Wilderness Ridge fountains for photos, then into the lodge for a reception. Sally's son called from overseas in the middle of dinner with a toast we played over the speakers.. you could feel the emotion in the room! Her wedding coordinator, Sara Brown with Bella Signature Events kept the day on track and solving any problems that arose. Her photographer, Jamy Sullivan captured it all on film. This couple was awesome! I had a blast hanging out with them all day. We started at Northwest Hills United Church of Christ in Omaha for their ceremony, which was beautiful. They had a fun church exit in bubbles and boarded a truck-limo from Extreme Racing Limousines - how cute! We stopped at Upstream along the way for some down time (and to prove that Honey Raspberry beer really is the best on earth - thanks Jen!) before continuing on to the Scottish Rite Temple for her reception. It was my first time in that venue and I fell in love! The main ballroom was the perfect size, with adjoining rooms for the buffet and the bar to work perfectly. We stayed through their wedding party dance (which was choreographed to ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man") and had a blast the entire time. Megan and I were truly amazed by these two.. we had the opportunity to put together a Love Story video for them before the wedding, detailing how they met, the proposal, and what they are most looking forward to on their wedding day. What an amazing day! I traveled to Dallas, TX last weekend to film the wedding of two friends and it was absolutely stunning! It meant a lot to me because I've gotten to know each of them as individuals before I even found out they were dating. I got to know Chad through our Senior Campaigns class at UNL, where our group spent many late nights up editing projects and planning details. Lauren and I met when she interviewed to be an addition to our staff here at ASI and have spent many weddings filming together. It was truly a blessing to be involved in this day and I want to extend a big thank you to Lauren, Chad and both their families for the opportunity. I got the chance to work with Paul & Andy with imaginography Photography and can't wait to see their photos. Wedding season is in FULL swing! We took a break this Sunday to work the KFRX Bridal Show at the Cornhusker Marriott in downtown Lincoln. What a great turnout! We got to know Jennifer & Nick pretty well before their wedding - we spent some time interviewing the two of them over how they met, first kiss, proposal, etc. and then we were invited to tag alone to video their engagement photos. We then created a video for them that was a huge hit at the rehearsal dinner and reception. The two were married at Westminister Presbyterian here in Lincoln in a beautiful ceremony that turned out perfect. We then boarded the limo and headed to Pioneers Park for a photo session. The rain kept us from shooting anything outside, so we made a quick pit stop at Barry's downtown (the location of where they first met!). The reception was at Embassy Suites - and wow, it was "stops you in your tracks" gorgeous! She had placed bags containing a CD of their favorite music at every seat and the centerpieces tied the whole room together. On The Fritz provided the reception entertainment and it was such a great party! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day - Enjoy your highlights! :)

Angela and Josh tied the knot on May 30, 2009 and they received a beautiful day for it! We started at Messiah Lutheran for the ceremony, then moved on to Wesleyan for a quick photo session and then to The Rock for a party! What a weekend - 2 friends that I've gotten to know over the last 3 years tied the knot on Saturday. I always love filming a wedding for friends, and Saturday truly was an amazing day! Jon & Erin started the day off with a photo session at the Capital with one of my fav photographers, Matt Elwood of Elwood Photography. The ceremony followed at Good Sheppard Lutheran Church and it was beautiful! We had a blast in the Limo bus, and after a short set back we finally made it to the Ag Pavillion in Seward. It was my first wedding there and what a party place! These two were absolutely adorable - I got the opportunity to get to know them a little better before the wedding when we created their Love Story video. They were a blast during the interviews, telling the story of how Shane's first words to her were "Can I order a chicken sandwich?" and Sara saying thet she wears the pants in the relationship. The love they have for each other is genuinely special, which is why I was so excited for their wedding! The couple tied the knot on May 23 with a very emotional ceremony at First Baptist Church and a party following at Embassy Suites. It was an amazing reception, complete with a Marachi Band and customized Hot Sauce labels. Our DJ kept the dance floor full and the party rocking. This was our first exposure to the new Jasmine room in the Grand Manse downtown and it was beautiful! Stephanie and Jake had the unfortunate circumstance of their reception hall burning down in the midst of their wedding planning and then decided on a new city, new venue, and new date.. talk about stress! Wow, almost another school year coming to a close! My little sister is a Senior this year (hard to believe!) and I've been putting some things together for her graduation. Below are three graduation invitations I designed for her using her senior photos. Night To Remember

On Dec. 4, The Event Planner by Echo Publications chose 12 lucky couples to get pampered at Castle Barrett in Omaha - hair, tuxes, limo ride, dinner - the works! There were also vendors from all the major wedding categories to help the couples with any areas they may still need to plan on their big day. We had the honor of providing our DJ services for background music during dinner, bride and groom introductions, and ballroom dance lessons. At the very end, the couples played the "Nearly Wed" game, a spinoff of the Newlywed Game for a chance to win an all inclusive honeymoon. I filmed the Night To be Remembered and here are the highlights from the evening. My friend Char at Charlene's Bridal and Event Rentals provided the table decorations and the chair covers - it was a blast!

I had a very special wedding last weekend in Kansas - our friends Becky and Dustin finally tied the knot! The ceremony was in a beautiful church in Hanover with the reception following at the Legion in Marysville. These two complement each other so well and their love was radiating whenever they were together. The reception was a great party, with Karaoke that was a huge hit. I was honored to capture all their special moments on video and below are the highlights from their big day - ENJOY!

I'm helping Rachel & Jordan plan their May 2009 wedding and we've been busy working and finding fun, creative things - I just thought I would share an update of a cute Save The Date Magnet they are sending out. Rachel found them at Magnet Street and what a deal! It lets you design your own, then it provides you with an online proof for you to approve - the cost is super reasonable and it even includes custom envelopes! She had a great experience with them and wanted to pass it along to anyone looking for a reasonably priced creative Save the Date magnet!

Junkyard Bride!

On Monday I went out to film a bridal portrait session that had a twist - we shot it in a junkyard! My photographer friend Corey Rourke had a bride that wanted to do something different, and it was such a blast. His images are below and the video highlights will be coming soon so be sure to check back! Trash The Dress!

I had an awesome opportunity this week for a Trash the Dress video! Shane and Sunny Dwyer of Shane and Sunny Photography (formally MDP/Dwyer) found the mud and planned the day. Their bride from last Saturday was more than willing to take her dress on a mud spree and so was Sunny - watch the girls trash their dress while Shane snaps away!

I'm in Phoenix this entire week attending a conference by the name of Wedding Merchant Business Academy. 300+ vendors from across the world are here listening to speakers such at Jennifer Fallon, CEO of Kate Aspen Favors, Alan Berg, Vice Pres of theknot, Christine Thomas, President of AboutWeddings, and Peter Merry, Past President of the American DJ Association. This is our first time attending the conference and it has been a great way to network and see what other vendors around the world are doing to improve their business. August 9, 2008 was a big day for weddings this year - and we were honored to provide our DJ and Videography services for Melissa and Randy James. The wedding was in Hickman, NE - it was a new church for us and I love seeing new locations! Following the ceremony, the group traveled to The Grata to get a jumpstart on the reception and had a fun photo op outside. We then headed to Courtside Banquet Hall where they threw an amazing party with a Halloween theme (when Randy & Melissa first met!). I met an awesome photographer, Becky with Blue Skies Photography out of Daykin, NE and we had a blast the whole night. The highlights are below - thank you, Randy & Melissa, and congratulations!

2008 Tuition Mission

We took a break from weddings this week to help with the KFRX Tuition Mission 2008 and it has a been a blast! If you haven't been following along, you can see all the videos/photos and information at the KFRX website. If you aren't familiar with the challenge, KFRX selected 20 students to live on a school bus for a week, parked behind the Union on City Campus. They have to stay on the bus 24 hours a day, unless they are doing challenges or eating lunch - they also get one 15 minute bathroom break every 2 hours. KFRX takes everything they bring with them, and they are only allowed the clothes on their back while on the bus. The days begin at 6am with Army wakeup and bus inspection, then the challenges ensue. It continues until 10pm when they are finally allowed to sleep. Whoever can survive the challenges and stay on the bus until Saturday will win free tuition and books for a year, up to $10,000. It has been a great time hanging with the staff and DJs from KFRX and we look forward to helping them again! You can check out everything from the bus here! On June 28, 2008 we were honored to Video the wedding of James & Liz. They had a small intimate ceremony at the Apothecary with just their close family and friends. Kyle & Michele were married last weekend on August 2, 2008. Their wedding was absolutely amazing - they have the best story and every little detail was tied into the first time they met. The reception was held at the Sesostris Shrine Center on Hwy 77 & Saltillo Rd, where they first met at her Dad's John Deere Auction. They had the same auctioneer for the garter auction, their first date was listening to BreakAway band and they were providing the music that night - Kyle even changed into the clothes he was wearing that first day they met and came out to surprise her during the garter auction. It was awesome! I was there taping from the hair salon through the bouquet and garter - it's going to be an awesome video. I also got to work with Elli from Studio E Photography - she is so amazingly talented and I enjoyed working with her and Tannon. Her pictures are below, along with their video highlights and a piece of their Love Story video that was played for guests at their reception.

The day started out sunny and warm on 6/7/08 when we arrived at our first wedding. It was an indoor ceremony at Southwood Lutheran, a brand new beautiful church on 40th & Yankee Hill road. We found both Zack and Leanne waiting anxiously for the ceremony to begin. It was over before we knew it, and everyone greeted them outside the church. We then met up at Hillcrest Country Club (one of my favorite venues!) to take a few pictures outside, then they headed in to party! We also had the priviledge of DJing their dance and Kurtis kept the place rockin'! Check out the highlights below, and congratulations to both of you!

A gorgeous day for a gorgeous couple... Todd and Jennifer wed on May 31, 2008. These two are so in love! Abby & Travis tied the knot on April 18 in Wahoo, NE and then had a beautiful reception in Westin. Everything felt straight from a movie - her gorgeous dress and white gloves, the cake with layers of flowers, and the amazing decor inside the Ponderosa Opry House. We were honored to provide our DJ and Video services for their special day - the dance floor was rocking all night long and we got it all on film. What a special wedding! On Friday May 30, my cousin Staci married Shane Anderson in a gorgeous wedding in Norfolk, NE - I was so honored to be chosen as a bridesmaid! Our team provided the videography and storybook services and everything went without a hitch. We took lots of great pictures before the ceremony and even had time to shoot a few hoops in the Norfolk Catholic gym... it was a blast! The reception hall was decorated beautiful and it was a packed house - everyone stayed until the very end and we all had such a great time. We had a very special wedding on the weekend of May 17, 2008 - Todd & Bonnie Buresh tied the knot! Todd is Chad's cousin, and everyone was so excited to welcome Bonnie into the family. It was a country themed wedding in the small towns of Dwight and Bee, Nebraska, but don't let that size fool you - it was a huge party! We took a big red school bus to a small town bar and street dance before ending up in the Bee Ballroom. We all had such a great time - I'll post their highlights below. Daniel & Jill's Wedding

On May 2, we got to film Jill & Daniel while they exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony. The weather wasn't as warm as she'd hoped, but it cooperated and stayed mostly dry! The ceremony at Wilderness Ridge was a beautiful choice and the golf cart ride up the hill was a nice touch :) We loved working with Matt Elwood from Elwood Photography again, and love the pictures he supplied below!
